SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Douglas R. Koss of Waukegan, who passed away on January 18, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Douglas R. Koss was born October 7, 1935 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong resident; he was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church; he attended the University of Illinois Chicago and served in the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, He and his brother Bob Koss owned and operated Bob & Doug's Amoco Service Station on the corner of Sunset and Lewis in Waukegan for 43 years, along with Bob & Doug's Auto Service on Sunset and Northern in Waukegan for the last ten years of their business; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Grace Koss; and his brother, Robert Koss, whom he loved very much; and

WHEREAS, Douglas Koss is survived by his loving wife, Beth; his two daughters, Amy (Christopher) Venckus and Sally (Mark) Stailey; his son, David Koss; his sisters, Margaret Lyons and Florence (Robert) Kristensen; his sister-in-law, Pamela Koss; his many devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his four wonderful grandchildren, Danni, Maddie, Ryan, and Anna; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Douglas Koss; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Douglas Koss as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
