SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Aida M. Guss (nee, Capozzoli) of Palatine, who passed away on February 18, 2010; and

WHEREAS, She was born December 19, 1936, in Des Plaines; she was a devout Catholic and went to daily Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, She was a seamstress for the Little Sisters of the Poor for over 40 years at St. Joseph Home for the Elderly; she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; her family was everything to her; and

WHEREAS, Her husband was the former Palatine Village President; the couple owned the Village Cobbler Shoe Store in Palatine, and a second location in Barrington; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Guss Jr.; her parents, Louis and Amelia (nee Mazzuca) Capozzoli; and her brothers Joseph (the late Margaret) and Louis Capozzoli; and

WHEREAS, Aida Guss is survived by her children, Robert J. III (Amber) Guss, Daniel M. (Karen) Guss, David L. (Cheryl) Guss, Carolyn A. (Gordon) Padera, John F. (Tamiko) Guss, Gina M. (William) Whitlock, Jody L. (William) DeAcetis, and Gemma T. Guss; her 25 grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Julie Capozzoli; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Aida Guss; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Aida Guss as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
