SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy M. Burns, who passed away on February 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Burns was born on March 28, 1942; her parents were Lily Baker and Roosevelt Barrow; and

WHEREAS, In her early years, Dorothy Burns married Depholia Roberts; to their union, 3 children were born; and

WHEREAS, In 1966, Dorothy Burns met James Burns; Dorothy and James were married on March 28, 1968; to their union, 3 children were born; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Burns is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, James; her children, Richard Barrow, Yolanda (Clinton) Rice, Depholia (Leslie) Burns, Velvet (Robert) Hudson, Tyrone Burns, and Katrina; her grandchildren, Michael (Erica), Santanna, Johnathan, Marcus, James, Carol, and DeAndre; her siblings, Willie (Lou) Barrow, Preston (Georgia) Barrow, Maudie (Eugene) Barrow, Lucille Townes, Bernie (Sonny) Barrow, and Cynthia (Sue) Barrow; and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Burns will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a loving and devoted wife and mother; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy M. Burns; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Burns as an expression of our sympathy.
