SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth Frank Lindgren of Aurora, who passed away on December 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was born on September 14, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana; his parents were Robert and Jennie Lindgren; he married Hedy Kay, nee Schwabe, Lindgren on June 29, 1963, in Aurora; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren grew up in Glenview and moved to Aurora in 1949; he graduated from West Aurora High School in 1958 and earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1963; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Kenneth Lindgren went to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Inc. in Sunnyvale, California and Allis Chalmers in Harvey; he then went to work at his father's business, DACO Incorporated, in 1967, where he spent the rest of his professional career; after his father's retirement, Ken rose to the position of CEO/President, where he expanded the business substantially through the acquisition of their largest customer, Caterpillar; thanks to his inspired leadership, DACO continues to be a world class manufacturer for Caterpillar and other large equipment manufacturers; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was a leader in the Aurora Family YMCA and was a member of the Board of Trustees for its successor, the Heritage YMCA Group; he served on the Board of Directors of the Old Second National Bank until his passing; he was a member, leader, and participant in many activities of the New England Congregational Church in Aurora; he was a Big Brother with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Kane & Kendall Counties; he was also a member and past board member of the Aurora Country Club and a member of the Porsche Car Club of America; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his golf friends; he also enjoyed amateur car racing, cars, skiing, spending time with his family and friends, and doing various activities with the ROMEO group (Retired Old Men Eating Out); and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Ida Schwabe; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Lindgren is survived by his wife, Hedy Kay Lindgren; his sons, Stephen Frank (Sarah) Lindgren and Brian Kenneth Lindgren; his grandchildren, Michael Lindgren, Grace Lindgren, Hannah Lindgren, and Charlotte Lindgren; his siblings, Janice (John) Sargent, Ellen (Ron) Kramer, Robert (Carolyn) Lindgren, and Bruce (Meredith) Lindgren; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kenneth Frank Lindgren; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth Lindgren as an expression of our sympathy.
