SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kathleen Jane Ash of St. Louis, Missouri, who passed away on January 26, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on November 10, 1952, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Lawrence and Marcella Evans; on June 2, 1978, she married William (Bill) B. Ash of Alton; and

WHEREAS, She attended East Alton-Wood River High School and graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1974, majoring in English; she was the editor of Guitar Notes for the Saint Louis Classical Guitar Society, with additional responsibilities in graphic design, grant writing, and organizational planning; since 1980, she worked side by side with her husband, who serves as president for the society; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father, who passed away in 1988; and

WHEREAS, She was loved by all and was known for her passion for life; she was a lover of every type of animal, and will be missed dearly by her husband, two cats, and a new puppy; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother; five siblings and three spouses, Lawrence Evans, M.D. and his wife, Ginger, Donald Evans, Rosemary and Martin Sammartano, Gwen Dwiggins, and Ruth and John Dwiggins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Kathleen Ash; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kathleen Ash as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
