SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mamie Lee Hunter of Chicago, who passed away on November 8, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on September 5, 1915 to Robert and Elizabeth Trapp in Abbeville, South Carolina; and

WHEREAS, She met and married Elbert Hunter in 1939; she devoted her life to taking care of her husband, her children, and her children's friends; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of the "Second Knighters Club" for seven years; she loved to cook and live life to the fullest; she confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church before joining Life Center Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor T. L. Barrett; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rosa Lee Wilson; her husband, Elbert Hunter; and

WHEREAS, Mamie Lee Hunter is survived by her daughter, Delmar Hunter; her sons, Elbert (Lillie) Hunter and Euclid Hunter; her grandchildren, Rommel Hunter, Akeem Hunter, Patrice Hunter, Michelle Hunter, Morgan Hunter, and Kendall Hunter; her great-grandchildren, Shaun Finley and Rochelle Hunter; her nieces, Elaine Roberts and Gwendolyn Brooks; and a host of relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mamie Lee Hunter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mamie Lee Hunter as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
