SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Lewis Stovall of Chicago, who passed away on August 2, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 29, 1932, and grew up in Stovall, Mississippi; he graduated from Lawrenceville School in 1951, and received his B.A. in American Studies from Vale College in 1955; and

WHEREAS, He had a successful career in real estate in Dallas and Chicago; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Howard Stovall, III and Matthew Carter Stovall; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lewis Stovall is survived by his sister, Marie Stovall Webster and her husband, William A. Webster, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Nancy Gilmore Stovall, wife of his brother Carter; his daughter, Marcy Tench Stovall and her husband, Jim Farnam, and their children, Zachary and Elsa Rose; his daughter, Gavin Stovall Mullen and her husband, Michael M. Mullen, and their children, Anne, Jack, Claire, and Matt; his daughter, Louise Stovall Holden and her husband, Mark V. Holden, and their children, Molly, Clay, Kate, and Michael; his daughter, Elizabeth Carter Stovall; his former wives, Diana Tench Stovall and Verna Callahan Stovall; his companion, Nancy Harris; and his many friends, buddies, and fishing mates; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert Stovall; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Stovall as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
