SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Teresa M. Johnson of Chicago, who passed away on October 4, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on December 6, 1966 to Michael C. Johnson and Corethea Johnson Davis, in Oklahoma; the family later moved to Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She accepted Christ at an early age and later re-accepted him; she attended Eisenhower High School in Chicago; she worked for the Unicare Insurance Company Claims Department; and

WHEREAS, She was a writer and a rapper, known in circles as "Lady T", "Big T", and "Cha-Cha"; she gave up her microphone but continued to write lyrics and poetry over the years; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Johnson is survived by her sister, Alderman Latasha R. Thomas (Timothy); her brothers, Justin Johnson, Aubrey J. Davis, and Michael H. Davis; her aunts, Starlina Floyd, Imani Miller, and Larnetrice Bush; her uncle, Rayfield Watkins, Jr.; her niece, Victoria O.N. Thomas; her nephew, Timothy Thomas, III; her love and fiance, John Gardner, Jr.; her close friends, Krishna Millsapp Pilmore (friend and cousin), Janece Tousson, LaTonya Mitchell, Marie Linzy Black, and Napoleon Black; and a host of other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with family and friends, the passing of Teresa Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Teresa Johnson as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
