SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Corey Lawrence McClaurin of Chicago, who passed away on September 19, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born on December 7, 1991 in Chicago, to Darla Bracey-McClaurin and Walter R. McClaurin Jr.; and

WHEREAS, He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Amelia Earhart in 2006 and was currently in his senior year attending Simeon Career Academy; and

WHEREAS, Corey loved sports and wanted to continue his education in business; he wanted to become a music producer and own his own production company; and

WHEREAS, Corey McClaurin is survived by his parents; his sister, Courtney McClaurin; his grandmother, Bessie Brown; his grandfather, Armstead Bracey; his great-aunts, Marie Shannon and Alena Nathan; his aunt, Daphne McClaurin; his great-uncles, George McClaurin and Clarence Bracey; his uncles, Robert McClaurin, James Ward, and James Harris; his cousins, Malik McClaurin, Ayana Mitchell, Jaylen Harris, and Jayson Harris; his godmother, Carisa Hurley; his godfather, Authur James, Jr.; his godsisters, Artasia James and Ashley Hurley; his godbrothers, Arthur James III and Malik Bell; his nephew, Sean Mixon; his host of aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends, and Delilah; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Corey McClaurin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Corey McClaurin as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
