SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Richard Dystrup, who passed away on
4 August 28, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup served more than 40 years as an
6 educator and public servant; he formerly served as a Lockport
7 Township High School teacher and coach and as Executive
8 Director of Illinois Dollars for Scholars; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup formerly served as the Mayor of
10 Lockport; he was also a Joliet Junior College Trustee and a
11 member of the Lockport Lions Club, the Will County Historical
12 Society, the Will County Community Foundation, and many other
13 organizations; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup enjoyed coaching, sharing his
15 love of sports with his grandchildren, and the Chicago Cubs;
16 and
 
17     WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup was preceded in death by his
18 parents, Cameron and Elizabeth Dystrup; his step-mother,
19 Rachel Dystrup; his in-laws, George and Odette Drury; and his
20 sons, Douglas and Brett Dystrup; and

1     WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup is survived by his wife of 45
2 years, Barb; his daughters, Andra (Spiro) Voulgaris and Libby
3 (Mark) Hollatz; his grandchildren, Hannah, Gehrig, Halle,
4 Mallory, and Sawyer Hollatz, and Gabby, Zara, Gracie, Marcos,
5 and Clover Voulgaris; his brother, Andy (Carolyn) Dystrup; his
6 step-sister, Barbara Schafer; his step-brother, Gordon
7 (Barbara) Kay; his aunt, Phyllis Bogdan; and his many nieces,
8 nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Richard Dystrup; and be
12 it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Richard Dystrup as an expression of
15 our sympathy.
