SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Dystrup, who passed away on August 28, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup served more than 40 years as an educator and public servant; he formerly served as a Lockport Township High School teacher and coach and as Executive Director of Illinois Dollars for Scholars; and

WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup formerly served as the Mayor of Lockport; he was also a Joliet Junior College Trustee and a member of the Lockport Lions Club, the Will County Historical Society, the Will County Community Foundation, and many other organizations; and

WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup enjoyed coaching, sharing his love of sports with his grandchildren, and the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup was preceded in death by his parents, Cameron and Elizabeth Dystrup; his step-mother, Rachel Dystrup; his in-laws, George and Odette Drury; and his sons, Douglas and Brett Dystrup; and

WHEREAS, Richard Dystrup is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barb; his daughters, Andra (Spiro) Voulgaris and Libby (Mark) Hollatz; his grandchildren, Hannah, Gehrig, Halle, Mallory, and Sawyer Hollatz, and Gabby, Zara, Gracie, Marcos, and Clover Voulgaris; his brother, Andy (Carolyn) Dystrup; his step-sister, Barbara Schafer; his step-brother, Gordon (Barbara) Kay; his aunt, Phyllis Bogdan; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Richard Dystrup; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Dystrup as an expression of our sympathy.
