SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sam Zangori of Alton, who passed away on August 17, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born January 10, 1923, in Wood River to Michael and Maria (LaSita) Zangori; he married the former Sarah R. Ventimiglia on September 8, 1946, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River; and

WHEREAS, He had been a salesman for Met Life Insurance, retiring in 1985; and he had worked for the county clerk at the Madison County Courthouse; and

WHEREAS, He was a charter member of Knights of Columbus of Wood River, past Rotary Club of Roxana, Eagles of Alton, Roxana School Board from 1968 to 1981, Met Life Veterans, American Cancer Society Met Life Executive Board of New York, United Way, and president of Senior Citizens of Wood River; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his two sisters, Antoinette Markovitch and Christine Malone; and

WHEREAS, Sam Zangori is survived by his wife, Sarah; his two daughters, Mary Ann (Michael) Kelly and Josephine (Anthony) Tardino; his son, Michael J. (Diane) Zangori; his grandchildren, Christine (Rick) Elledge, Steven (Lori) Kelly, Timothy (Amber) Tardino, Michael (Andrea) Zangori, Patrick (Cassy) Kelly, Sam (Elizabeth) Zangori, and Michelle Tardino and fiance, Chauncey Mayfield; his great-grandchildren, Michael Elledge, Brandon Kelly, Jacquline Zangori, Sarah Elledge, Abbigail Zangori, Zaccheri Zangori, Mallory Kelly, Lukus Zangori, and Isabella Tardino; his two sisters, Josephine Fredrickson and Rosemary Howard; and his brother, Ben Zangori; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Sam Zangori; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sam Zangori as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
