SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roger A. Baxter of Peoria, who passed away on June 2, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 23, 1956 in Peoria, the son of Phillip C. and Shirley A. (Hinthorn) Baxter; and

WHEREAS, He worked at Great Plains Gas Company for over 20 years and then at Ulrich Chemical Company; and

WHEREAS, He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps Reserve and a board member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Peoria; he was an avid fan of NASCAR and the St. Louis Cardinals; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Baxter; his cousin, Colleen Lentz; and his grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Roger Baxter is survived by his mother, Shirley Baxter; his brother, James Baxter (niece, Angie and nephew, Jimmy); his sisters, Cindy (Bill) Halstead (nephew, Cody and niece, Carly), Sherry (Nate) Miller (nieces, Brianna and Ashlynn), and Crystal (Douglas) Staley (nephew, Phillip); his 2 aunts; his uncle; and many cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Roger Baxter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roger Baxter as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
