SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joseph J. Broderick, who passed away on
4 May 3, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick was born in Joliet; he was a long
6 time resident of Lockport; he had been living in Joliet since
7 1957; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick was a graduate of Sacred Heart
9 (St. Dennis) Grade School and Lockport High School; he attended
10 St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana, for one year, and
11 received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Purdue
12 University in 1952; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick retired from Hines VA Hospital in
14 February of 2007 after 30 years of dedicated service; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick was a member of the Old Timers
16 Baseball Association, the John Purdue Club, the Moran A.C., and
17 the Joliet Moose Lodge #300; he was an avid Purdue football fan
18 and was very proud of his Lockport High School Alumni; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick was preceded in death by his
20 beloved daughter, Mary Margaret Broderick; his parents, John

1 and Virginia (nee Fitzgerald) Broderick; and his several
2 nephews, in-laws, and other family members; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick was the beloved father of
4 Terrence Joseph (Joellen) Broderick, Daniel Francis Broderick,
5 and Timothy John (Anna) Broderick and the dearest grandpa of
6 Alexandra "Ally", John, Margaret "Maggie", and Daniel
7 Broderick; he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years,
8 Kathleen "Kate" (nee Fitzgerald) Broderick; his sisters,
9 Rosemary (the late Eugene) Cummings and Kathleen (G. David)
10 Ross; his brother, Thomas Broderick; his numerous nieces,
11 nephews, and cousins; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Art (Mary Lu)
12 Silk; and his brother-in-law, William Brown; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Joseph J. Broderick; and
16 be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Joseph Broderick as an expression of
19 our sympathy.
