SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charlotte Louise Miller, who passed away on April 20, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Miller was born on January 20, 1940 in Duncan, Mississippi; her parents were the late Walter and Katie Melton; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Miller confessed her hope in Christ at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Benjamin J. Holmes; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Miller was employed with the Lake County Rehabilitation Center in East Chicago for many years; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Miller was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Lorraine Blair and Charlene Smith; her grandchildren, Oscar Kelly III, Kenyall Dante Blair, and Debria Walker; her sisters, Dora Mae Kendricks and Katie Blair; her brothers, Reverend Willie Melton and Walter Melton Jr.; and her nephew, Westley Herrod Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte Miller is survived by her husband, Robert Miller; her daughters, Gwendolyn (James) Cates, Tina Fade, and LaTonya Blair; her sons, Ronald Blair, Harbest (Anita) Blair, Michael Blair, and Lionel Blair; her 47 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ruth Cooley, Corrine Farrow, and Ernestine Melton; her brothers, Lyndell Melton and Eddie Melton; her aunt, Lillie Davis; and her many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Charlotte Louise Miller; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charlotte Miller as an expression of our sympathy.
