SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Hubert J. "H.J." Mennie of Mark, who
4 passed away on April 12, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Hubert Mennie was born on September 25, 1942; his
6 parents were Hubert W. "Sarge" and Josephine (Ellena) Mennie;
7 he married Cheryl Koch on July 14, 1962 in Granville; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Hubert Mennie graduated from Hopkins High School
9 with the Class of 1960; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Hubert Mennie worked at Westclox for seven years
11 and graduated from the tool and die apprenticeship program; he
12 founded the Mennie Machine Company in 1970 and, with the help
13 of his family, developed the company into what it is today; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Hubert Mennie was a member of Sacred Heart
15 Catholic Church in Granville; he was also a member of the Board
16 of Directors of the Granville National Bank from 1990 until his
17 passing; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Hubert Mennie was preceded in death by his
19 parents; and

1     WHEREAS, Hubert Mennie is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his
2 sons, Bill (Janeen) Mennie and David (Annette) Mennie; his
3 daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Smoode and Amy (Jake) Cimei; his
4 grandchildren, David John, Brittany, Zachary, Tiffany, Brandon
5 Mennie, Samantha and Dominic Smoode, and Gavin Cimei; his
6 brothers, Jerry (Suzie) and John (Cindy) Mennie; and his
7 sister, Mary (Jerry) Urnikis; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Hubert J. "H.J." Mennie;
11 and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Hubert Mennie as an expression of
14 our sympathy.
