SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gussie Kabakow, who passed away on March 21, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Gussie Kabakow was a former manager of the Bakery Drivers Union Local 550, Pension and Welfare Fund; and

WHEREAS, Gussie Kabakow volunteered for many organizations, including The Workman's Circle, NY Eye and Ear, Beth Israel Hospice, and American Women's ORT; she was also the founder of WE Care at Village East Towers; and

WHEREAS, Gussie Kabakow was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; her daughter, Sara (Wallace Mandell); and her son, Don; and

WHEREAS, Gussie Kabakow was the dear mother of Masha (Sy Rudman) and Sunny (Paul Fischer); she is survived by her loving grandchildren, Rachel Beth, Reva, Debbie, David, Rachel Batya, Avram, Max, and Nina; her eight great-grandchildren; her many nieces, nephews, and friends; and her special friend, Al Landsman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Gussie Kabakow; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gussie Kabakow as an expression of our sympathy.
