SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Hunter, who passed away on April 2, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter was born on March 16, 1929; her parents were Eunice Lacy and Wallace Dandridge; she also had another father, Fred Gatlin, who later married her mother; she married Marvin Jerome Hunter on October 9, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter completed elementary school and high school in Memphis, Tennessee; she later moved to Chicago; in 1953, she joined the Fellowship M.B. Church under the leadership of Reverend Clay Evans; she then returned to Memphis, where she stayed until she fell ill and returned to Chicago, staying there until her passing; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her children, Elaine (Hunter) Malcome and Maurice Hunter; her grandson, Randall Malcome; and her great-grandson, Andre (Mann) Greene; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter is survived by her sons, Earl Jerome Dandridge, Marvin Jerome Hunter, and Greg Hunter; her daughters, Anita (Hunter) Barber and Vickie Lynn Jones; her 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and her many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy Hunter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Hunter as an expression of our sympathy.
