SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joseph Lindsey Loftus, who passed away on
4 January 25, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Loftus was born on April 28, 1951 to Thomas J.
6 and Margaret M. Loftus; he earned his degree in elementary
7 education from Illinois State University; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Loftus was employed with the Department of
9 Corrections, retiring after 22 years; at the time of his
10 retirement, he served as Warden of the Danville Correctional
11 Center; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mr. Loftus enjoyed politics and was an active
13 member of the Vermilion County Democrats; he also enjoyed
14 fishing, storytelling, riding his Harley, and spending time
15 with his family and friends; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mr. Loftus is survived by his wife, Janice (nee
17 Neposchian); his son, Jon Loftus (wife, Jenny); his
18 grandchildren, Avery and Ava; his brother, Michael (wife,
19 Judith) and his nieces, Kate and Sarah; his sister, Mary
20 (husband, John Craig) and his nephews, David and Jesse; his
21 sister, Eileen Lofus, and his niece, Elizabeth, and nephews,

1 Christopher and Patrick; his extended family, Kim Neposchian,
2 Ken Page, Tim and Jeanne Farrow, and Jay and Julie Neposchian;
3 his other nieces, Anne, Laurel, and Linden; and his other
4 nephews, Patrick and Michael; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joe Loftus fought a valiant battle with cancer to
6 the very end and, per his wishes, a celebration of his life
7 family and friends gathered at Turtle Run to celebrate his
8 life, rather than mourn his loss; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Joseph Lindsey Loftus;
12 and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Joseph Loftus as an expression of
15 our sympathy.
