SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward J. "Doc" McCartan, who passed away on January 8, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCartan was a veteran of World War II (Iwo Jima) and the Korean War, having served in the United States Navy, Marines, and Air Force; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCartan was a dedicated public servant; he was elected to serve as a Village of Romeoville Trustee from 1971 to 1975 and from 1995 until his passing; he also served on the Village's Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic Development Commission, and on many community service organization boards; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCartan was a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine since 1957; he was also employed as an Export Manager for Sunbeam Incorporated until his retirement in 1983 after 35 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCartan is survived by his wife, Ruth McCartan; his daughters, Colleen (Michael) Tacchia, Sharon (Raymond) Bruemmer, Pattie (James) Holloway, and Sheila (Ronald) Brewer; his sons, Kevin (Maryann) McCartan and Brian McCartain; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Edward J. "Doc" McCartan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward McCartan as an expression of our sympathy.
