SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy S. Stannard (nee Spooner) of River Forest, who passed away on February 11, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on March 28, 1931 in Murphysboro to Lawrence and Irene Spooner; she attended Lincoln Elementary School, was a 1949 graduate of Murphysboro High School, and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1953; and

WHEREAS, She taught special education in the Kankakee School District, then moved to Oak Park in 1965; and

WHEREAS, She was employed with the Community Chest of Oak Park/River Forest until her retirement in 1979; and

WHEREAS, She was a 44-year resident of the Oak Park/River Forest area, a member of the Oak Park Country Club, the River Forest Tennis Club, a Women's Investment Club, and the Keystone Garden Club; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Stannard is survived by her husband, Richard D.; her children, Lisa (Thomas) Woods and Scott Shepherd; her stepchildren, Richard (Mary), Robert M.D. (Carole), David (Christine Comer), and Cynthia Stannard; her ten grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Jeanne (the late Charles "Fred") Bock; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Nancy Stannard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Stannard as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
