SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary N. Paulson of Edwards, who passed
4away on December 29, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on July 15, 1941, in Peoria, to Archie
6L. and Alice (Nelson) Paulson; he married Marjorie Gerber on
7April 3, 1966, in Morton; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and
9received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bradley
10University; he worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 38 years, last
11as a senior analyst, before retiring in 2003; after retirement,
12he worked for several of the Peoria Park District golf courses;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, He became an Eagle Scout in 1955 and was a Scout
15leader for many years; he coached various teams for his sons;
16he was inducted into the Woodruff High School Hall of Fame in
171993 and into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2001;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, He was the owner and operator of Dipper Dan for
20several years; he volunteered for Glen Oak School, the
21Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross; in 2004 he received

1the Volunteer of the Year award for A.R.C.; he was a member of
2the Woodruff Alumni Association and was treasurer for several
3years; he was also a volunteer for the Friends of the Children
4of Haiti and went on six medical mission trips to Haiti after
5his retirement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of Grace Presbyterian
7Church and volunteered in the 3-year-olds class, and was a
8former co-superintendent in the 4-year-old department for
9several years; he was a loving husband, father, and PaPa, who
10enjoyed golf, was an avid sports fan, and loved spending time
11with his grandchildren and attending their various functions;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and one
14brother, Doug Paulson; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gary Paulson is survived by his wife, Marjorie;
16his children, Andy (Jen) Paulson, Julie Paulson, and Kevin
17(Melissa) Paulson; his grandchildren, Baylen, Callie, Kahler,
18and Archie Paulson; and one niece and one nephew; therefore, be
19it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
22his family and friends, the passing of Gary Paulson; and be it
