    Amends the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the pilot project plan.

1     AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection
5 Program Act is amended by changing Section 4 as follows:
 
6     (415 ILCS 90/4)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 991-4)
7     Sec. 4. Pilot project plan.
8     (a) The The Agency shall formulate and update a plan for
9 collecting small quantities of household hazardous waste from
10 households in the State. The plan shall include:
11         (1) An assessment of private industry interest or
12     involvement in hazardous waste collection in the State and
13     recommendations to the General Assembly for private
14     industry collection incentives.
15         (2) A survey of businesses available to serve this
16     function or alternative recycling or disposal functions
17     with recommendations of approved firms to be used for the
18     collection program.
19         (3) A method for encouraging private industry
20     household waste collection pilot projects in local and
21     regional communities.
22         (4) A method of encouraging county and municipal
23     household hazardous waste collection pilot projects.

1     (b) The agency shall develop and distribute public
2 information regarding, but not limited to, the following:
3         (1) Nontoxic alternatives to household hazardous
4     materials.
5         (2) Safe use and storage procedures for household
6     hazardous materials, including toxic effect warnings.
7         (3) Proper disposal procedures for household hazardous
8     waste.
9         (4) Recycling options available for various types of
10     household hazardous waste.
11     (c) Agency sponsored household hazardous waste collections
12 shall continue until March 1, 1995.
