SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 5/22.7 new

    Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Notwithstanding any other provision of the Act, provides that a person's license under the Act shall be deemed suspended by operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual crime. Provides that the license shall remain suspended until the criminal proceedings have concluded. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning professional regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by
5 adding Section 22.7 as follows:
 
6     (5 ILCS 5/22.7 new)
7     Sec. 22.7. Suspension of license for violent or sexual
8 crime. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, a
9 person's license under this Act shall be deemed suspended by
10 operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint,
11 or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual
12 crime. The license shall remain suspended until the criminal
13 proceedings have concluded.
 
14     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15 becoming law.
