SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 5/22.7 new

Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Notwithstanding any other provision of the Act, provides that a person's license under the Act shall be deemed suspended by operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual crime. Provides that the license shall remain suspended until the criminal proceedings have concluded. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning professional regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by adding Section 22.7 as follows:

(5 ILCS 5/22.7 new)

Sec. 22.7. Suspension of license for violent or sexual crime. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, a person's license under this Act shall be deemed suspended by operation of law upon the filing of an indictment, complaint, or information that charges the person with a violent or sexual crime. The license shall remain suspended until the criminal proceedings have concluded.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
