    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning special plates for retired members of the General Assembly.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5 Section 3-606.1 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/3-606.1)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-606.1)
7     Sec. 3-606.1. Retired members of the General Assembly. Upon
8 receipt of a request from a retired member of the the General
9 Assembly, accompanied by the appropriate application and fee,
10 the Secretary of State shall issue to such retired member
11 plates bearing appropriate wording or abbreviations indicating
12 that the holder is a retired member of the General Assembly.
13 Such plates may be issued for a 2 year period beginning January
14 1st of each odd-numbered year and ending December 31st of the
15 subsequent even-numbered year.
16     "Retired member" means any individual who (a) has served as
17 a member of the General Assembly for a minimum of 6 years, or
18 (b) is 62 or older, has served as a member of the General
19 Assembly for a minimum of 4 years, and retired prior to the
20 convening of the 83rd General Assembly.
21     The fees and procedures relating to such plates for retired
22 members of the General Assembly shall be the same as the fees
23 and procedures applicable to personalized plates issued under
