HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Allana Chittick on being selected to receive the National Youth Leadership Award from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America; and

WHEREAS, Allana is a senior at Paris Cooperative High School and an honor student; she was selected to the honors choir for the Illinois Music Educators Association, served as Sergeant of the school dance team, and participated in school drama and musical productions; she provided mentoring to 4th and 5th grade underprivileged students, was a member of the Spanish club, choreographed the annual May Fete celebration for 3 years, taught swim lessons to children and senior citizens and swimming on the YMCA/Paris School District swim team, and was also a life guard; and

WHEREAS, Allana has been involved in The Coalition Against Methamphetamine Abuse (CAMA) since she was nine years old; she later served as Secretary and Vice President for the CAMA Teens when she entered high school, and through that role she has worked on underage drinking campaigns and assisted in conducting tobacco compliance checks in three counties; and

WHEREAS, She collaborated with the Pontiac Prescription Drug Disposal Program and "Operation Medicine Cabinet" which yielded over 120 pounds of expired medications, and she is working to establish local permanent drop-off sites in partnership with law enforcement; she supported annual all-county prevention conferences called P.A.R.T.Y (Positive Actions Relating to Youth); and she presented awareness campaigns to the local school board as well as international visitors from Great Britain; and

WHEREAS, In 2007, Allana was one of three CAMA teens who participated in National Youth Training in Tucson, Arizona; and

WHEREAS, Participation in National Youth Training is required for eligibility to be considered for the National Youth Leadership Award; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Allana Chittick for receiving the National Youth Leadership Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Allana Chittick as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
