HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Dalward J. DeBruzzi for his lifetime of dedicated service to his community; and

WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; he served in the South Pacific and was present at the battle areas of Leyte Gulf, Palaway Island, Mindoro, San Pedro Harbor, Eniwetok, and Saipan; he received the Victory Medal, a Presidential Citation, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Pacific Area Combat Medal and was recommended for a Purple Heart for his meritorious service; and

WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi earned a bachelor's degree in education from Illinois State University and a bachelor's degree in finance from Northeastern Illinois University; he then earned his master's degree from Loyola University; and

WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi served as a Chicago public school teacher for 38 years; he also served on the faculty of the Illinois Institute of Technology and Wright College; at IIT, he taught computer science and headed the Algebraic Computer Science program in 1972; he currently serves as a tutor to needy children in his spare time; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure at IIT, Dalward DeBruzzi authored 2 books and used the proceeds from the sale of those books to purchase educational materials for his students; and

WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi served as a draft board commissioner; he also served on the Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago for several years; and

WHEREAS, Dalward DeBruzzi received a Presidential Citation in 1982 from President Ronald Reagan; he also received a citation for public service from Langdon P. Neal, Chairman of the Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Dalward J. DeBruzzi for his lifetime of dedicated service to his community and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dalward DeBruzzi as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
