HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. of Scott Air Force Base, who passed away on June 7, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. was born January 8, 1980, in Covington, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Barnett was assigned to the 927th Engineer Company (Sapper) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his military occupational specialty (MOS) was 21B (combat engineer); he was a soldier in the Army National Guard but to his family and friends he was a talented juggler and mime and he loved making people laugh; during his time of service he was the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, and Combat Action Badge, along with other distinguished medals; and

WHEREAS, During his tour in Afghanistan he survived a blast and pulled his Lieutenant to safety, despite his own injuries; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of New Destiny Church in Belleville; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Alice, nee Schoen, Burton; and his grandmother, Patricia Mattingly; and

WHEREAS, Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. is survived by his wife, Diane Barnett; his sons, William D. Barnett, Noah I.C. Barnett, and Dylan M. Barnett; his father, Franklin D (Daisy) Barnett Sr.; his brother, Melvin Eiskant; his sister, Jeanette (Gary Walthes) Barnett; his grandmother, Mildred Barnett; his grandfather, Melvin Schoen; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Sherry Sanders; his childhood friend, Mandy Malon; his close friends, Rob and Stacy Tackett; his nephews, Ethan Dunn and Dominic Walthes; his aunts, Florence (Greg) Baker, Mary (Roger) Walker, Joy (John) Burton, and Charlene Cannon; his dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his pastors, Tim and Kim Rankins of New Destiny Church in Belleville, who loved him as a son; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
