HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Franklin
4 D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. of Scott Air Force Base, who passed away on
5 June 7, 2009; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. was born January 8,
7 1980, in Covington, Kentucky; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Sergeant Barnett was assigned to the 927th
9 Engineer Company (Sapper) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his
10 military occupational specialty (MOS) was 21B (combat
11 engineer); he was a soldier in the Army National Guard but to
12 his family and friends he was a talented juggler and mime and
13 he loved making people laugh; during his time of service he was
14 the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Afghanistan Campaign
15 Medal with Bronze Service Star, and Combat Action Badge, along
16 with other distinguished medals; and
 
17     WHEREAS, During his tour in Afghanistan he survived a blast
18 and pulled his Lieutenant to safety, despite his own injuries;
19 and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was a member of New Destiny Church in
21 Belleville; and

1     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara
2 Alice, nee Schoen, Burton; and his grandmother, Patricia
3 Mattingly; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. is survived by his
5 wife, Diane Barnett; his sons, William D. Barnett, Noah I.C.
6 Barnett, and Dylan M. Barnett; his father, Franklin D (Daisy)
7 Barnett Sr.; his brother, Melvin Eiskant; his sister, Jeanette
8 (Gary Walthes) Barnett; his grandmother, Mildred Barnett; his
9 grandfather, Melvin Schoen; his father-in-law and
10 mother-in-law, Joseph and Sherry Sanders; his childhood
11 friend, Mandy Malon; his close friends, Rob and Stacy Tackett;
12 his nephews, Ethan Dunn and Dominic Walthes; his aunts,
13 Florence (Greg) Baker, Mary (Roger) Walker, Joy (John) Burton,
14 and Charlene Cannon; his dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and
15 friends; and his pastors, Tim and Kim Rankins of New Destiny
16 Church in Belleville, who loved him as a son; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
20 Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr.; and be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the family of Franklin D. "Jr" Barnett Jr. as a
