HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Shirley J. Kurre, Principal of Holy Rosary Catholic School in Fairmont City, on her retirement; and

WHEREAS, She was born in Fairmont City and attended and graduated from Rose Lake Grade School in Fairmont City and East Side High School in East St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a degree in elementary education in 1963, married Fred Kurre on August 3, 1963, and began her career in education in the fall of that year with the Cahokia school system; and

WHEREAS, She started teaching at Holy Rosary Catholic School in August of 1968 and became the school principal in 1971; and

WHEREAS, She has served Holy Rosary Catholic School for 41 years and will retire in May of 2009; and

WHEREAS, Shirley and Fred have two daughters, Laura and Jacquelyn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Shirley Kurre on her retirement and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Shirley Kurre as a symbol of our respect.
