1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ventura Diaz on the
4 occasion of her 100th birthday on July 14, 2009; and

5     WHEREAS, Ventura Diaz was born on July 14, 1909 in
6 Guadalajara, Mexico; she came to the United States in 1928, at
7 the age of 19; after coming to the U.S., she married Salvador
8 Barba; in 1966, she married Amador Diaz; and

9     WHEREAS, Ventura Diaz retired from Supreme Products in
10 Chicago after many years of dedicated service; and

11     WHEREAS, Ventura Diaz is the mother of Richard, Ernest,
12 Alice, and Salvador; her son Adolph is deceased; she also has
13 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 22
14 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

15     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17 congratulate Ventura Diaz on the occasion of her 100th birthday
18 and wish her good health and continued happiness in the future;
19 and be it further

20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 presented to Ventura Diaz as a symbol of our esteem and
2 respect.
