HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers was founded in
3 1934 to fight anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination and
4 intolerance; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers is the oldest
6 Jewish Bar Association in the United States; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers promotes public
8 education and legal action to protect the rights and privileges
9 of all people; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society has remained ever vigilant
11 against public and private practices which perpetuate racial
12 and religious hatred, or are insensitive to the needs of
13 minorities; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Decalogue Society members participate in social
15 action, render useful community service, and cooperate in
16 movements for the public welfare; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society provides free continuing
18 legal education to assist members and non-members alike in
19 becoming better informed lawyers; and

1     WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society supports student chapters
2 at seven law schools to encourage young lawyers to incorporate
3 the ideals of religious freedom, racial tolerance, and public
4 service into their future careers; and
 
5     WHEREAS, For 75 years, Decalogue Society members have
6 worked diligently to bring increased dignity and honor to the
7 legal profession; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 congratulate the members of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers on
11 the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the Decalogue Society of Lawyers as an expression
14 of our esteem.
