HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Chrysler assembly plant in Belvidere is the most efficient plant in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Chrysler has invested $420 million into the Belvidere plant and the State of Illinois has invested $34 million in infrastructure upgrades to the plant; and

WHEREAS, The State of Illinois, together with the federal government, should explore all possible methods to keep the plant open and productive; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the President of the United States and Congress to work together with the State of Illinois to ensure the viability of the Chrysler plant in Belvidere; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the President of the United States, the Speaker and Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, the Majority and Minority Leader of the United States Senate, and the members of the Illinois congressional delegation.
