HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate William C. "Bill" Jarrett on the occasion of his retirement as Mayor of the Village of Coulterville; and

WHEREAS, Bill Jarrett was born in Coulterville; he is the son of the late Cordell and Margaret (Khoury) Jarrett; and

WHEREAS, Bill Jarrett proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army; he worked as a coal miner and retired from General Motors, where he worked as an electrician for 31 years; and

WHEREAS, Bill Jarrett is a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Lively Grove, the American Legion Post BBK 480 in Steeleville, and St. Anthony's Men's Club; he is a past president of the Coulterville Board of Education and a former member of the Coulterville Village Council; and

WHEREAS, Bill Jarrett has served proudly as Mayor of the Village of Coulterville for the past 16 years; during his tenure, he has been instrumental in moving the Village of Coulterville forward, with such projects as the new City Hall and Community Center, the new baseball fields with walking tracks, the Coulterville Care Center, the Coulterville Medical Clinic, the waste treatment plant, the water plant, the community recycling program, and new sidewalks, among many others; and

WHEREAS, Bill Jarrett married Jeanetta Toensing in 1951; the couple will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary in September of 2009; they are the proud parents of Cyndy (Doyce) Tabing, Cheryl Hood, Bill (Stacey) Jarrett, and Bob (Missy) Jarrett, the proud grandparents of Jenny, Charlie, Andy, Erin, Natalie, Jarrett, Bill, Ben, Cassidy, Kelsey, and Kaitlyn, and the proud great-grandparents of Jake, Reece, Chloe, Madalynne, Lydia, Landon, Gideon, Mickeala, Dalton, Seth, and Elexia; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate William C. "Bill" Jarrett on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bill Jarrett as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
