HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Steve Bragg on the occasion of his retirement as vice president for Finance and Planning at Illinois State University on April 30, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Steve Bragg became interim vice president and then vice president of the Finance and Planning division after serving as the director of Planning, Policy Studies, and Information Systems for four years; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his service as vice president for Finance and Planning, Steve Bragg served with the Illinois Board of Higher Education, where he worked in Planning and Analytical Studies, Academic Affairs, and Fiscal Affairs; and

WHEREAS, Under Steve Bragg's leadership, many numerous improvements and innovations have been made to Illinois State University; he established financing precedents in acquiring and developing the university's new Alumni Center in partnership with the Illinois State University Foundation and private developers; he was instrumental in financing the new Student Fitness and Kinesiology and Recreation Center that will serve as a model for future development; during his tenure, ISU completed its Campus Master Plan and opened several new facilities, including the Center for the Performing Arts, the College of Business Building, and a research farm in Lexington; a comprehensive renovation plan resulted in remodeling projects for Schroeder Hall, several residence halls, and improvements to almost every campus building; the establishment of zone chiller concepts, combined with creative energy purchase processes, has saved ISU millions of dollars; he also worked to enhance and streamline Human Resources and Information Systems processes and led the implementation of a four-year tuition guarantee plan prior to the passage of the State's "Truth In Tuition" laws; and

WHEREAS, Steve Bragg serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Steve Bragg on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Steve Bragg as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
