HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, John Selke will be inducted into the Illinois Athletic Directors' Association (IADA) Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Athletic Directors' Hall of Fame is dedicated to all the men and women who through their efforts have made interscholastic athletics a positive experience for young men and women; and

WHEREAS, The work of the athletic director has brought honor to themselves, their school, community, and the Illinois Athletic Directors' Association; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor the great athletic directors who have brought fame to the Illinois Athletic Directors' Association, established in the hearts of youth a motivating influence to excel in athletics, and fostered pride, preserved good sportsmanship, scholarship, and citizenship in schools and communities; and

WHEREAS, John Selke resided in Hoffman Estates with his family from 1968 until 1989 when he moved to Schaumburg; and

WHEREAS, John Selke has worked in Schaumburg-Palatine School District 211 for 34 years as a teacher, coach, and administrator; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure as Athletic Director he helped bring seven State Championships and nine State placements to the school district; and

WHEREAS, John Selke has acquired many honors through the years, including being named the Illinois State Athletic Director of the Year in 2005; and

WHEREAS, John Selke has served the Village of Schaumburg by volunteering for the Millennium Ball and the Village of Schaumburg 50th Anniversary Celebration Committees, the Schaumburg Township Sesquicentennial Committee, the Rotary Club of Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, the Knights of Columbus, and serving as Chair of the Schaumburg High School Committee, that brought long-awaited lights to the stadium; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate John Selke on his achievements and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John Selke as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
