HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Joseph Devlin on the occasion of his retirement as a Roselle Village Trustee after 40 years of dedicated service to the citizens of the Village of Roselle; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has been a resident of the Village of Roselle since 1953; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has had a long and distinguished career with the Village of Roselle; he began his career as a Village Trustee in May of 1969, remaining in that position until April of 1973; he then became Mayor of Roselle in May of 1973, serving there until April of 1981; he then returned to the position of Village Trustee in May of 1981, where he remained until his retirement in April of 2009; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has been a member of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, serving as the group's President from 1978 to 1979; he served 3 six-year terms on the DuPage Water Commission, serving from August 6, 1984 to June 30, 2002, and was a past Chairman of the commission; he was a member and past Vice Chairman of the DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee; in 1989, the Rush Street Wastewater Treatment Plant in Roselle was renamed the Joseph L. Devlin Wastewater Treatment Facility in honor of his work; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has served as the Administrator of the Roselle Historical Foundation since October of 1995; he is a Republican Precinct Committeeman; he is a member of the DuPage American Legion Post 1084 and the Bloomington/Roselle Rotary Club; he serves as Parish Finance Director and Usher at St. Walter Catholic Church; he also serves as a mentor to local students as part of Adults involved in Mentoring Students (AIMS); and

WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin's dedication to his fellow citizens and his willingness to serve his community make him a model for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Joseph Devlin on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Joseph Devlin as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
