HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Joseph Devlin on
4 the occasion of his retirement as a Roselle Village Trustee
5 after 40 years of dedicated service to the citizens of the
6 Village of Roselle; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has been a resident of the Village
8 of Roselle since 1953; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has had a long and distinguished
10 career with the Village of Roselle; he began his career as a
11 Village Trustee in May of 1969, remaining in that position
12 until April of 1973; he then became Mayor of Roselle in May of
13 1973, serving there until April of 1981; he then returned to
14 the position of Village Trustee in May of 1981, where he
15 remained until his retirement in April of 2009; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has been a member of the DuPage
17 Mayors and Managers Conference, serving as the group's
18 President from 1978 to 1979; he served 3 six-year terms on the
19 DuPage Water Commission, serving from August 6, 1984 to June
20 30, 2002, and was a past Chairman of the commission; he was a
21 member and past Vice Chairman of the DuPage County Stormwater
22 Management Committee; in 1989, the Rush Street Wastewater

1 Treatment Plant in Roselle was renamed the Joseph L. Devlin
2 Wastewater Treatment Facility in honor of his work; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin has served as the Administrator of
4 the Roselle Historical Foundation since October of 1995; he is
5 a Republican Precinct Committeeman; he is a member of the
6 DuPage American Legion Post 1084 and the Bloomington/Roselle
7 Rotary Club; he serves as Parish Finance Director and Usher at
8 St. Walter Catholic Church; he also serves as a mentor to local
9 students as part of Adults involved in Mentoring Students
10 (AIMS); and
 
11     WHEREAS, Joseph Devlin's dedication to his fellow citizens
12 and his willingness to serve his community make him a model for
13 the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 congratulate Joseph Devlin on the occasion of his retirement
17 and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
18 further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to Joseph Devlin as a symbol of our esteem and
21 respect.
