HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, One of the great attractions of the Lake Shelbyville area is tourism; the area has been working to increase tourism and promote the lake; and

WHEREAS, As a result of cooperative efforts to bolster tourism at Lake Shelbyville and surrounding areas, the Sixth Annual Spores 'N More Mushroom Festival will be held on April 24 and 25, 2009; and

WHEREAS, The Festival is being sponsored by the five Lake Shelbyville-area municipalities of Findlay, Sullivan, Bethany, Windsor, and Shelbyville; and

WHEREAS, The events to be held include a mushroom soup dinner, a bake and craft sale, a parade, plant sales, pancake breakfasts, a business expo, and a fire awareness program; and

WHEREAS, The highlight of this year's festival will be a morel mushroom hunt and mushroom auction, with awards presented to the most, the biggest, and the smallest in each category, as well as the Overall Grand Champion; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the importance of increasing tourism in the Lake Shelbyville area and support the efforts of the communities hosting the 2009 Spores 'N More Mushroom Festival; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the organizers of the 2009 Spores 'N More Mushroom Festival as a symbol of our respect.
