| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the | | 4 |
| Des Plaines Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2992 as they | | 5 |
| celebrate the 75th anniversary of their Post's organization; | | 6 |
| and
| | 7 |
| WHEREAS, The many accomplishments of Post 2992 include | | 8 |
| sponsoring the Support the Troops Program, which provides care | | 9 |
| packages and coupons to members of our Armed Forces stationed | | 10 |
| abroad; providing public commemoration programs for the City of | | 11 |
| Des Plaines, including Loyalty Day,
Memorial Day,
and Veterans | | 12 |
| Day; and
participating in
4th of July and
Patriots' Day | | 13 |
| celebrations; and
| | 14 |
| WHEREAS, Post 2992 has actively participated in Poppy Day | | 15 |
| and supported Illinois Veterans' Homes and Hospitals, the | | 16 |
| V.F.W.
National Home for Children, as well as local nursing | | 17 |
| homes; and
| | 18 |
| WHEREAS,
Post 2992 sponsors local baseball teams;
supports | | 19 |
| Bessie's Table, a program that provides meals for local needy | | 20 |
| residents;
supports Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs; has
| | 21 |
| helped in the rehabilitation of the Lake Park Memorial | | 22 |
| Pavilion; has
donated to the local Food Pantry; and sponsors |

| essay programs for students, such as the
Voice of Democracy | | 2 |
| scholarship program,
the Patriots Pen youth essay contest, and | | 3 |
| the
Great American program; and
| | 4 |
| WHEREAS, Post 2992 has been the recipient of the Governor's | | 5 |
| Home Town Award on 2 occasions, the Caring Hearts Award from | | 6 |
| the Volunteer Center of Northwest Suburban Chicago, the V.F.W. | | 7 |
| 4th District Post of the Year Award, and the Des Plaines Super | | 8 |
| Star Award-Community Leader Award; and
| | 9 |
| WHEREAS, Post 2992 was organized on March 14, 1934 and | | 10 |
| instituted on April 8, 1934 with 22 members; therefore, be it
| | 11 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | | 12 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | | 13 |
| congratulate the members of the Des Plaines Veterans of Foreign | | 14 |
| Wars Post 2992 on this momentous occasion; and be it further
| | 15 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 16 |
| presented to Post 2992 as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
