HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Phyllis Parkinson on the occasion of her retirement after many years of service with the Health Care Council of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson was originally from Carmi; she then spent her adult years in Springfield and St. Charles; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson has been a long-time realtor in the Chicago suburbs; she is also active in local politics in the Chicago suburbs; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson has served as Chairperson of the Illinois Realtor's Association Legislative Committee for many years; she is also a long-time member of the Chamber of Commerce in St. Charles; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson began a second career as a Statehouse lobbyist for the long-term care profession after moving to Springfield to marry her high school sweetheart; as a lobbyist, she worked tirelessly on behalf of Illinois seniors in need of long-term care services and worked towards equitable and fair long-term care funding; she also helped usher in a unified long-term care profession and brought together divergent opinions into one association with a single voice; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson has served with great skill and dedication as chief fundraiser and PAC activist for the Health Care Council of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson is fondly remembered by members on both sides of the aisle for her work on campaigns and for the great rapport she established with staff and members in the Statehouse; and

WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Phyllis Parkinson plans to indulge her passion for travel; she is also a former ballroom dance instructor who still loves to "cut a rug"; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Parkinson serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Phyllis Parkinson on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Phyllis Parkinson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
