HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the Berwyn Development Corporation for the organization's dedicated service to the citizens of the Berwyn community and the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) was founded in 1983 when the City of Berwyn, the South Berwyn Business Association, the Berwyn business community, and the residents of Berwyn worked jointly to create the BDC as the City's economic development arm; the BDC's initial focus was to help existing businesses grow within the community and to administer the City's commercial loan pool; and

WHEREAS, The BDC is a not-for-profit corporation that functions as a public-private partnership with the City of Berwyn, providing economic development and Chamber of Commerce services to all segments of the Berwyn community; the BDC currently serves over 300 business and individual members; and

WHEREAS, Through its numerous programs, such as the Commercial Loan Program and Tax Increment Financing districts, the BDC commits itself to activities that improve the overall climate for local business and encourage the development of additional business and employment opportunities; and

WHEREAS, The BDC's work has been recognized by the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and the International Economic Development Council; and

WHEREAS, The BDC serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the Berwyn Development Corporation for the organization's dedicated service and wish the BDC's employees continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Berwyn Development Corporation as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
