HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jack Shales on being honored with the Distinguished Citizens Award from the Three Fires Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, Jack Shales is a resident of Elgin and is a partner at Shales McNutt Construction, LLC; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Shales has worked with and been a supporter of: the Greater Elgin Area YMCA, the United Way of Elgin, the Jayne Shover Easter Seals Association, the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Judson College, the City of Elgin, the Fox Valley General Contractors Association, the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army of Elgin, Provena St. Joseph Hospital, the Riverfront Action Committee, the YMCA Advisory Board, Fox Valley Hospice, the Boys and Girls Club, and the EFS Foundation; and

WHEREAS, He received the 1979 YMCA Distinguished Service Award, the 1965 Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award, the 1991 Willis A. Reed Humanitarian Award of Elgin United Way, the 1982 Cosmopolitan Club Distinguished Service Award, the 1998 Charles A. Bane Humanitarian Award of Excellence, and a 2004 Honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree from Judson College; and

WHEREAS, Jack Shales is married to Marlene Ellen Kane Shales and they have 4 children: Michael, Kristin, Heidi, and John; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jack Shales on this honor and wish him all the best for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jack Shales as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
