HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Next year, 2011, will mark the 70th year since the
3United States was attacked by Japan, an attack that was quickly
4followed by declarations of war against our country by Germany
5and Italy; and
 
6    WHEREAS, It is appropriate for Illinois, its political
7leaders, institutions and local governments to recognize the
8profound and lasting effect that World War II has had on our
9society and our State; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Those who have actually participated in those
11events will soon be gone forever; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The State's educational, civic, and veterans
13organizations share a responsibility to assist in preserving
14our history when the entire country was united; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Those sacrifices and that history should never be
16neglected or forgotten; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19the Constitutional Officers, State Board of Education,
20Department of Veterans Affairs, together with civic,

1educational, and patriotic organizations be urged to implement
2appropriate ways in which the values and the sacrifices of
3those who participated in World War II can be remembered,
4appreciated, and understood; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the Constitutional Officers, State Board of
7Education, and Department of Veterans Affairs.
