HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Rochelle Township High School 2008 Dairy Foods Team on the occasion of winning the State championship at the 2008 State FFA Dairy Foods Career Development Event on December 13, 2008 at the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Rochelle Township High School 2008 Dairy Foods Team are seniors Lauren Schabacker and Riley Hintzsche, junior Brooke Smith, and sophomore Jessica Keys; the team's coaches are FFA advisor John Hintzsche and horticulture teacher Donna Page; and

WHEREAS, The team successfully completed a variety of taste and evaluation tests involving milk, cheese, other dairy products, and artificial dairy products; the team also performed equipment evaluations and written examinations; and

WHEREAS, Great amounts of time and energy were required in preparing for the competition; the Rochelle Township High School Dairy Foods Team spent the fall tasting and comparing dairy products, learning about the processing that creates the differences in dairy products, milking equipment operations, and synthetics; and

WHEREAS, Despite the fact that three of the four team members had never competed in dairy judging before, the team performed admirably, with Jessica Keys winning Top Individual in the contest, Lauren Schabacker winning 7th Place Individual, and Brooke Smith winning 12th Place Individual; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that congratulations are extended to the Rochelle Township High School 2008 Dairy Foods Team on the occasion of winning the State championship at the 2008 State FFA Dairy Foods Career Development Event; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we give our best wishes for the team's success in competing at the National FFA Convention in October; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Rochelle Township High School 2008 Dairy Foods Team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
