HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate James J. Rupert, Principal of North Elementary School in Nokomis and Nokomis Junior High School, on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Litchfield; he attended Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, He began teaching in 1966 in Litchfield; in July of 1972, he became the principal of North Elementary School in Nokomis; and

WHEREAS, In 2004, he became principal of Nokomis Junior High School while remaining principal of the elementary school; and

WHEREAS, Among the numerous educational awards he received during his 40 years in education are the National Distinguished Elementary School Principal of the Year Award, the Friends of the Illinois Principals Association, and the Bright Star Award; he has twice received the State Academic Award; he received the Herman Graves Award from region 5 this year and is being considered for the same award on a national level; and

WHEREAS, His wife, Judy, is a retired teacher; they have two children, David and Andrea; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James J. Rupert and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James J. Rupert as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
