HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas E. Squires of Boy Scout Troop 297 of Hoffman Estates on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Scouting has been a part of his life since 1999 when he joined Cub Scout Pack 396 in Schaumburg; he earned the Arrow of Light Award in November of 2003; and in February of 2004 he joined Boy Scout Troop 297; and

WHEREAS, His Eagle Scout project benefited Christian Youth Theatre, an after-school theater based program for children from 8 to 18, operating out of Northwest Cook, Kane, McHenry, Lake, and DuPage Counties, and the Aurora and Rockford areas; and

WHEREAS, His project consisted of landscaping the main office in Cary; the old and overgrown landscaping was replaced with a new and aesthetically pleasing design that is easier for the staff to maintain; and

WHEREAS, Thomas has held leadership positions in his Troop, attended Camp Napawon, and participated in the 2005 National Scout Jamboree; he has received many awards in scouting, including the Lamp of Learning Award, and is a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow; and

WHEREAS, Thomas E. Squires serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Thomas E. Squires and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas E. Squires as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
