HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. Anthony J. (Tony) Cuvo, Ph.D., of Carbondale, for his outstanding work on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cuvo is a former Distinguished Research Fellow of the National Institute of Handicapped Research, a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, and the American Association of Mental Retardation; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cuvo was one of the founding partners of The Autism Program (TAP); with 30 community agencies and university partners located across the State, the TAP Service Network is the largest statewide network of care in the nation for the diagnosis, treatment, and support of children with ASD; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cuvo, a Professor of Behavior Analysis and Therapy at Southern Illinois University, has played a pivotal role in the development of graduate training programs equipping professionals for work as Board Certified Behavior Analysts; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cuvo has completed innovative policy work to ensure that Board Certified Behavior Analysts are available to provide services to children enrolled in Early Intervention; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cuvo has conducted and published research that has made a significant impact on the treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cuvo has been a steadfast advocate of, and has made generous contributions of time to, children, families, and students; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Anthony J. Cuvo for his many contributions and thank him for his time and generosity in his work with the developmentally disabled community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Dr. Anthony J. Cuvo, to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, The Hope Institute for Children and Families, and The Autism Program of Illinois.
