HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Jay Sabatino, Superintendent of Community High School District 117 in Antioch, on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sabatino is responsible for many ideas coming to fruition in the district, including the purchase of land for a potential third high school campus, and without the need for a tax referendum; and

WHEREAS, He was asked to and expanded the substance abuse prevention/monitoring program within the district; the district began a hair testing program in extracurricular activities that brought the district Statewide notoriety and recognition; and

WHEREAS, He initiated a formal mentoring program for teachers in the district; he established a staff evaluation program, based on a Professional Growth Plan; and he was charged with moving the district to a higher level of student accomplishments; he not only achieved this goal, he also prepared a plan for the district's future; and

WHEREAS, He was charged with making sure that District 117 had the best credentialed and talented individuals educating the children, and he did that as well; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sabatino also made sure that the district budget was fiscally responsible and balanced in these hard economic times; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Sabatino on his retirement, thank him for his service, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Jay Sabatino as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
