HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Bolingbrook High School Girls Basketball Team for defending their Class 4A State Championship and for winning their third State title in the last five years; and

WHEREAS, In a rematch of the 2008 and 2009 Class 4A title games, the Lady Raiders won their third IHSA girls basketball championship by defeating Chicago-Whitney Young by a score of 60-50 on March 6, 2010, at Redbird Arena in Normal; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders finished the season with a final record of 29-1, entered the championship game with a 23-game winning streak, appeared in the State basketball tournament for the sixth straight year, and broke their own girls State basketball record by becoming the first team to reach the title game five consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders finished the season ranked seventh in the nation by ESPN Rise, seventh by MaxPreps in the Excellent 25 grouping, and seventh in the nation by USA Today; and

WHEREAS, The Bolingbrook Lady Raiders include Kennedy Cattenhead, Kierra Currie, Ashley Oliver, Mercedes Griffin, DeLacy Anderson, Taylor Tuck, Ariel Massengale, Falon Edwards, Ciera Howard, Alexandria Hill, Nicosia Henry, Chanyere Hosey, Morgan Tuck, and Cabriana Capers; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders are led by head coach Anthony Smith and assistant coaches Corey Bassett, Evan Bercot, Janee' Graham, Jennifer McKaufsky, Willie Smith, Aaron Woods, and Nicholas Wunschl; and

WHEREAS, In addition to the players and coaches, our congratulations are also extended to superintendent Dr. Phillip Schoffstall, principal James Mitchem, Jr., assistant principal and athletic director Alec Anderson, and trainers Gina Younce and Mattie Kaminskas; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders girls basketball team on becoming the 2010 IHSA Class 4A Girls Basketball Champions, for their class and professionalism, and wish the team well in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Lady Raiders as an expression of our respect and esteem.
