HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On February 12, 2009, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) celebrated its 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The NAACP was founded on the beliefs embodied in the United States Constitution, which stand for equality and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race; and

WHEREAS, Members of the NAACP, in keeping with the charge of our nation's founders, stand for equal justice and are against all forms of injustice; and

WHEREAS, The NAACP's work promotes equality and justice for all people; and

WHEREAS, The NAACP will continue to fight for justice for all; and

WHEREAS, The work of the NAACP has benefited all people; and

WHEREAS, The efforts of the NAACP deserve broad recognition; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the NAACP on the occasion of the association's 100th anniversary and wish them continued success in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to a representative of the NAACP as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
