HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan, of Harrison Township, Michigan, formerly of Antioch, who was killed in the line of duty while serving in Iraq, on March 15, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Richard Jordan was a 1998 graduate of Antioch High School, where he was outstanding student and athlete for the Sequoits; he also worked for the school's newspaper, the Tom-Tom, for two years; and was a member of the football team; and

WHEREAS, He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, As an Army recruiter, he was not required to deploy to Iraq, he volunteered for deployment out of a sense of duty to help his comrades; and

WHEREAS, United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his daughters, Nini and Jazzy; his uncle, Thomas Jordan; and other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
