HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael Connor White of Boy Scout Troop 96 in Grayslake on the occasion of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Michael White collected over 1,300 unserviceable flags from citizens and businesses throughout Grayslake in a 2-month period in order to respectfully and honorably retire the flags by burning them; he also wrote a retirement ceremony for the Memorial Day celebration at Avon Cemetery, where his troop placed flags on the graves of veterans, retired unserviceable flags, and honored the war dead; and

WHEREAS, Michael White is a 15-year-old sophomore at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora; he also plays percussion in the school band; and

WHEREAS, Michael White has been in the Boy Scouts since the age of 7; he was a recipient of the Arrow of Light Award as a second-year Webelo; and

WHEREAS, As a Boy Scout, Michael White has served as an assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, instructor, librarian, and troop guide; he has earned 40 Merit Badges for his work in the Boy Scouts, as well as the World Conservation Award and the Catholic Religious Medallions Parvuli Dei and Ad Altare Dei; and

WHEREAS, Michael White will be honored for his work at an Eagle Scout ceremony on April 3, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Michael White's family is undoubtedly proud of his achievements and his willingness to serve his community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that congratulate Michael Connor White on the occasion of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Michael White as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
